Product Specialist- Generic Pharmaceuticals(Job Number: R111711)
JOB SUMMARY: Specializes in sourcing products and suppliers to improve sales as well as gross profit and market share in the Generic Pharmaceutical product category. Areas of responsibility include New Product review and implementation, current product line management including SKU rationalization, promotional activity, supplier relations, pricing and competitive analysis, rebate tracking and collection, understanding brand/generic comparisons, appropriate marketing adjustments, maintaining gross profit margins and other projects as required. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES: Engage in the process of all new product submissions. Coordinates to ensure all necessary information is obtained from the supplier to facilitate a timely review of submissions, determining which items will be accepted and/or rejected. Collaborates with team members on accepted new products. Determines pricing, forecast and opening order quantities. Oversees process of new item code creation and development of catalog copy. Works closely with suppliers to develop a promotional plan to support a successful launch. Negotiates buying deals with suppliers and oversees proper communication and implementation to Inventory Management. Reviews monthly Marketing Product Classifications and item descriptions to ensure the integrity of product classification structure. Performs regular reviews of products identified by SKU Optimization in conjunction with Inventory Management for stocking, non-stocking and inventory returns. Reviews and implements any selling price changes resulted from price pending reports. Analyze and report on category performance. Reports will include sales analysis along with any necessary plan of action to increase sales or profit. Work in conjunction with the marketing team to plan to increase category sales and market share. Performs competitive pricing analysis and determines selling prices of all products in the respective categories. Proactively assists in the maintenance of the Generic Pharmaceutical Data Base. Terms and Contract negotiations in conjunction with the Legal Department. Assists in the RFP Bid process for the generics portfolio. Conducts in Rebate collection, tracking and projections. Maintains Data Entry. Helps to maintain the generic auto-substitution process as well as the brand/generic SP Table cross reference for sales consultants/customers. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required. Attend industry meetings and travel as necessary. Qualifications Experience: Five years of combined purchasing, marketing and/or sales experience of Generic Pharmaceuticals, or the equivalent required. Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Strong PC skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. Must have good analytical skills and must have good communication skills. Must be able to multi-task and work in a team environment and have very strong attention to details and record keeping as well as organizational skills. Other: Bachelor's degree or the equivalent. Must be able to work in fast paced environment.
